About Overlay filters

Although Spectaculator has had the TV scan lines effect since the very first version, other effects can now be added by third parties and users alike.

Overlay filters (sometimes called RGB triads) attempt to simulate the physical displays of old televisions and arcade monitors using small .png images which overlay the Spectrum screen.

More information about overlay filters is available over at mameworld.info.

Note

  • For best results, Spectaculator should be running at least 3x zoom.

  • If the zoom size for the window is less than 200%, Overlay filters are automatically disabled.

  • Overlay filters override the TV screen scan line effect.

  • A selection of Render plugins and Overlay filters which work with Spectaculator are available to download from here.
