About mouse support

Spectaculator can use the mouse connected to your computer to emulate popular mouse interfaces for the Spectrum:

• AMX mouse

• Kempston mouse

The most populator programs to use these devices were Art Studio, The Artist II and AMX Art which accompanied the AMX mouse.

Mouse emulation and the Windows mouse cursor

When mouse emulation is active, Spectaculator grabs the mouse for exclusive use. As a side effect, the Windows mouse cursor disappears.

To return to Windows, press the Ctrl key at any time or switch to another application using Alt+Tab. To re-enable mouse emulation, click the Spectaculator window with the left mouse button.

Important

The AMX mouse hardware clashes with the Kempston joystick interface (they both use port 31). The joystick will not respond if the AMX mouse is enabled.

As a rule of thumb, you should only enable mouse emulation when you intend to use a program that needs it.
