About action replays

Spectaculator can record all your keypresses, joystick movements and other input events and record them in an action replay (.rzx) file. This can then be played back so you can watch exactly what you did without having to do it again.

This can be useful in many ways:

  • Record a complete solution to a game and make it available on the Internet for other people to download and watch. Visit the RZX archive for details.

  • Take part in tournaments - record your best times and scores to beat the competition!

  • Record a procedure of how to do something to send to a friend.

Important

  • Do not open a snapshot or other file when recording (other than an audio cassette file for a multiload game). This changes the internal state of the emulated Spectrum which cannot be recorded in an action replay file. If Spectaculator detects this, it will alert you and automatically stop recording.

  • It is not safe to apply pokes or use the Multiface during recording. Playback will most likely not match what was recorded.
