To record an action replay

  1. Load the program you want to make an action replay of.

  2. On the File menu, click New.

  3. In the dialog box, click the action replay icon.

  4. Enter a name for the file.

  5. Choose a location for the file and click OK. Spectaculator will now start recording your keypresses, joystick movements and other input events.

  6. If necessary, you can use rollback to produce a perfect recording.

  7. When finished, highlight Action Replay on the Control menu and click Stop from the resulting pop-up menu.

To add to an existing recording

  1. On the Control menu, highlight Action Replay and click Continue Recording on the submenu.

  2. Navigate to the existing action replay file you want to add to, click it and then click Open.

  3. Spectaculator will now start recording your keypresses, joystick movements and other input events to the existing file.

Note

You should only finalise a recording once you have completely finished it and do not want to make additions to it at later date.

Important

  • Do not open a snapshot or other file when recording (other than an audio cassette file for a multiload game). This changes the internal state of the emulated Spectrum which cannot be recorded in an action replay file. If Spectaculator detects this, it will alert you and automatically stop recording.

  • It is not safe to apply pokes or use the Multiface during recording. Playback will most likely not match what was recorded.

Tip

  • You can also use the shortcut key, Ctrl+Break, to stop recording.

  • Use fast emulation mode to play your action replays back quickly.
